SACC Co-Sponsors Black History Month Lecture
To Celebrate Black History Month, Dr. Seneca Vaught examined the historical role of the ‘corner store’ (also known as mom & pops stores, bodegas, etc) in the African American community and how it has evolved over time today at the Smyrna Public Library.
Dr. Vaught is an Assistant Professor of African and African Diaspora Studies at Kennesaw State University in the Departments of History and Interdisciplinary Studies. He has been awarded the William Wells Brown Award for his innovative and project-oriented approach to framing community problems in policy terms for scholars, activists, and community leaders seeking to creatively apply historical knowledge.
The "First Sunday" lecture series is held in the Smyrna Public Library Meeting Room and is jointly sponsored by the Friends of Smyrna Library and the Smyrna Arts & Cultural Council.
