Art at the Fountain Art Show at the Jonquil Festival Concludes

THANK YOU to our wonderful artists who participated in this weekend’s ART AT THE FOUNTAIN at the Jonquil Festival. Ida Beth Barner, Catherine Goolsby, Shellton LaBron, Linda Luzum, Sue Pezely, Lisa Stockdell and Kay Wellham showcased their fantastic art.

Carrie Tankersley’s "Be a pART of Community ART" and Kevin Rucker’s Pencil Sketching Workshop were incredible additions ART AT THE FOUNTAIN. STAY TUNED FOR NEWS ON THE FALL ART SALE. It will expand to 20 artists and 2 days of art education activities.

Meet Community Artist Carrie Tankersley

Carrie Tankersley recently moved to Smyrna with her husband after spending the past two decades in Gwinnett County where they raised their daughter, now a student at UNG.  Originally from California, Carrie had a childhood immersed in the arts. Serving eight years in the Army provided additional exposure to art in Europe and all around the U.S not only in museums but within communities. Although Carrie works in the telecom industry her passion remains with the arts, stating, “I look forward to contributing to the Arts in a variety of ways within Smyrna”.

Carrie will be organizing a free Community Art project at the Smyrna Jonquil Festival, a mural of Smyrna inviting kids of all ages to contributing by painting a portion of the picture.  The mural will then be permanently displayed in the Community Center.

Meet Art at the Fountain Artist Kevin Rucker

Kevin Rucker is an award-winning Smyrna artist with an enthusiastic following. Kevin creates illustrations that appeal to traditionalists and modernists alike. As Kevin says, “Art evokes emotion. When I am creating, I am at my best.” Originally from New York, Kevin began his formal art education with a degree in Commercial Design and then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree (with a minor in Visual Arts) from the State University of New York at New Paltz. After moving to Atlanta in 1996, Kevin earned a degree in Computer Animation from the Art Institute of Atlanta, achieving many honors as a student. He was then invited to join the faculty as a 2-D and 3-D animation instructor.

Kevin will be leading a drawing workshop on Sunday, April 30 from 1 pm to 3 pm.  The workshop is free to attend and all needed supplies will be provided.
